Job Summary:
The Production Control Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring manufacturing production schedules to ensure efficient, cost effective operations. This role works closely with production, purchasing, inventory, and finance teams to optimize material flow, maintain accurate ERP data, and support on time delivery while controlling manufacturing costs.
Responsibilities:
Production Planning & Coordination
- Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on customer demand, capacity, and inventory levels
- Coordinate with manufacturing supervisors to ensure production plans are executed efficiently
- Track production progress and resolve schedule conflicts or capacity constraints
ERP & Data Management
- Maintain accurate production, inventory, and routing data within the ERP system
- Generate and analyze ERP reports related to production orders, work-in-process (WIP), inventory usage, and variances
- Ensure bills of materials (BOMs), routings, and lead times are accurate and up to date
Cost Control & Efficiency
- Monitor production efficiency, scrap, rework, and downtime to identify cost reduction opportunities
- Collaborate with operations and finance teams to analyze labor, material, and overhead variances
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on waste reduction, productivity, and cost efficiency
Inventory & Materials Management
- Coordinate material availability to support production schedules without excess inventory
- Assist with inventory cycle counts and root cause analysis of discrepancies
- Work with purchasing to improve material lead times and supplier performance
Education and Certifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2–4+ years of experience in production control, manufacturing planning, or scheduling
- Hands on experience using ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Epicor, JD Edwards)
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production workflows
