Network Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer with a solid foundation in IT infrastructure and network management to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Cisco networking technologies and a strong understanding of network protocols. You will play a key role in maintaining and optimizing our network systems, supporting both day-to-day operations and large-scale projects. Experience in a large organizational environment is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage, configure, and troubleshoot Cisco routers, switches, access points, VoIP systems, and wireless controllers.
• Utilize network management tools such as Cisco DNA Center, Aruba ClearPass, SolarWinds, and Splunk to ensure optimal network performance and security.
• Support network infrastructure projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to specifications.
• Participate in vendor management and the RFP process, working closely with third-party providers to ensure high-quality service and support.
• Work with a variety of network protocols including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP to maintain and optimize network performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve network-related issues.
• Lead or assist in network-related projects, managing timelines, resources, and project deliverables.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network performance issues with a focus on root cause analysis and long-term solutions.
• Communicate effectively with internal teams and stakeholders to provide updates and solutions in a clear and concise manner.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in network engineering or IT infrastructure roles, with a preference for experience in large-scale or educational environments.
• Proficiency with Cisco networking equipment (routers, switches, wireless controllers) and VoIP systems.
• Experience with network management tools such as Cisco DNA Center, Aruba ClearPass, SolarWinds, and Splunk.
• Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).
• Experience managing network-related projects from initiation through to completion.
• Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues efficiently.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while ensuring quality results.
• High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering top-notch service.

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with RFP processes and vendor negotiations.
• Prior experience in an educational or large-scale organizational setting is a plus.
