Position: CAD EngineerPosition Type: Contract to Hire
Compensation: $35.00 per hour
Location: Lewisville, TX
General Description:
This position is responsible for providing design and manufacturing assistance within a team-oriented environment to produce sheet metal products using our laser cutting, punching, brake forming, and other processes.
Responsibilities:
- Design and prepare drawings using SolidWorks, including importing CAD files and generating in-house drawings based on customer-supplied designs.
- Create nesting and generate NC code for laser cutting, punching, and press brake forming using CAM software.
- Collaborate with the production team to determine the best methods for fabricating the desired parts, requiring strong mechanical aptitude for brainstorming solutions.
- Review engineering drawings and designs to ensure compliance with established specifications and standards.
- Focus on designs primarily using steel and aluminum materials.
- Complete required process steps in an ERP system to release drawings and jobs on the production floor.
- Manage change control and maintain the drawing database.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
Minimum Previous Experience:
- At least 3 years of experience with SolidWorks, nesting, and generating NC code using CAD/CAM software.
- At least 3 years of experience in the sheet metal industry.
- Previous experience in mechanical drafting, manufacturing, or related fields.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and the Microsoft Office Suite.
Other Skills:
- Ability to understand and follow all instructions provided.
- Familiarity with using dial calipers, squares, and various measuring equipment.
- Maintain organization of CAD/CAM files.
